About us

The Congregational Carbon Footprint website is a project of Environmental Ministries of Southern California.  Its Executive Director, Rev. Peter Moore-Kochlacs, has worked with Congregations of Faith for more than twenty years on Creation Care, Environmental Stewardship and Environmental Justice issues. Peter was an official observer at the United Nations Earth Summit [UNCED] in Rio de Januaro, Brazil, in 1992. This world gathering of nations presented the first "Kyoto" type protocol/treaty. Both as a clergy person and as the Executive Director, Peter continued after June of 1992 to organize and advocate for strong climate change legislation with congregations, religious organizations and the US Congress. He wishes to thank the Board of Church and Society of the California-Pacific Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for their initial grant to establish this website.
